“Free feeding is fine for some dogs, but not for all. Grown dogs that are having problems getting the housetraining message should only be fed at regular meal times and then confined until they can be taken to the place where they should eliminate. Once you are satisfied that their business has been taken care of, you can allow them a reasonable amount of freedom. But if you can't watch your dog, the crate or or a safe confined area is the place for him.”
